CPF Q3 profit hit by low prices, high costs

Charoen Pokphand Foods Plc (CPF)'s net profit fell 53% in the third quarter but rose 36% year-on-year in the first nine months of this year.

CPF, the flagship company of the Charoen Pokphand Group, reported sales of 97.22 billion baht in the third quarter, up 78% from 54.45 billion baht of the same period last year.

The 53% decline in net profit to 2.4 billion baht in the third quarter was due to a lower gross profit margin of the farm business compared to the same period of last year.
