New lease on life for Elite Card

Major push expected to net 1,300 members

Thailand Privilege Card Co (TPC), the operator of the Thailand Elite Card, is embarking on a new business plan as it plans to attract 1,300 new members next year.

The Elite Card, which was almost scrapped by the previous Democrat-led government, got the green light from the Yingluck Shinawatra cabinet to be revived by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the owner of TPC.

For its comeback under a "Money Can't Buy" campaign, members will get more privileges such as a five-year visa with multiple entries and a maximum stay of 12 months, up from three months for normal tourists. They will get discounts for air fares and shopping in Thailand.

There are around 2600-800 members enrolled from the very beginning. Most of the billions in enrollment fees are already missing from the Thaksin administration. Program is heavily in debt. They have cancelled a lot of the privileges and limits people to golf and do the spa X amount of times per week depending on which period you joined, before it was unlimited. Some who enrolled and had residency which they allowed previously, now the Elite Program voided all who has residency and giving NO REFUNDS. A Class Action Suit is in progress. This is news based from a friend who has a member. Its great deal if you join at the beginning.

The amazing Thailand nonsense has no limits.

And the inventor of this elitarian joke is the one who pretends to stand for the poor.

"Mr Suraphon said medical tourism and expats are important markets. The number of medical tourists
    is about 400,000 per year."

And what does that have to do with the Elite card that cost you 2 million? For that money you can get medical treatement here for life time, not just 20 years.

Bottom line is: if you are rich, you can get everything in Thailand - and that's poor.

I take it that Charles Ponzi is not a household name in Thailand?
