Jittery investors leave SET nearly flat

Sentiment at the Thai bourse was poor yesterday as concerns emerged about the failure of European officials to reach another bailout deal for Greece, a day after Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke addressed the dangers of the US fiscal cliff.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand index was highly volatile yesterday, ranging from 1,268.3 to 1,279.25 points before closing at 1,276.39, down by only 0.02 points, in trade worth 22.6 billion baht.

Local institutions were net sellers of 140 million baht yesterday, while brokers and foreign investors were net buyers of 19.2 million and 131 million, respectively. Retail investors sold 10.2 million baht worth of shares.
