Science funding outlined

Thailand is ready to apply science and technology to drive the country's economic competitiveness, state agencies say.

Sonthi Vannasaeng, director of the International Cooperation Office at the Science and Technology Ministry, said his agency plans a budget of 34.83 billion baht for investments in science and technology facilities and human resource development for fiscal 2013 to 2018.

Most of the spending will go to 43 projects enhancing the competitiveness of the factory and service sectors, nine projects for human resources and nine for social welfare.
