IBank keys on 100 problem accounts

The Islamic Bank of Thailand will focus its efforts on restructuring loans for some 100 accounts that represent around 20 billion baht in non-performing loans, or 90% of the bank's total problem loans, says bank president Thanin Angsuwarangsi.

IBank directors plan to meet today to set up an inquiry panel to review past loan practices, including why bad loans have reached such high levels.

Mr Thanin said as of November 2012 non-performing loans at the bank totalled 24.6 billion baht, or 22.59% of total outstanding loans.
