Farm credit card scheme hits problems

Large agricultural suppliers are balking from participating in the government's farm credit card programme, citing cost issues.
About 300 farmers from 29 provinces gather in front of the Finance Ministry to ask it to help solve their debt problems. The farmers have been in the capital since last week and staged rallies at the Government Housing Bank and the Government Savings Bank to seek cuts of both interest and debts. Deputy Finance Minister Tanusak Lek-uthai acknowledged that a major fertiliser company had already declined to join the programme.
