Murky future seen for small cable firms

Small cable operators will find it difficult to participate in the new digital broadcasting era due to a lack of capital and a doubling of cable installation costs. 

Small cable TV operators need to adapt and possibly cooperate with other firms in order to survive the transition to digital, says the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission. PATTARAPONG CHATPATTARASILL

Nuttachai Arksorndit, the chief executive of MSS Cable TV, a cable television operator in Pathum Thani, opposed the move by the Provincial Electricity Authority last October to double its annual installation fee for operators laying their cable along the authority's power poles.
