CP is touting high-yield rice seeds, but at least one organic farming advocate is sceptical.

Two years ago, Manop Apaichit decided to purchase a new strain of rice seeds developed by the agriculture giant Charoen Pokphand (CP) Group.
The cost of seeds went up but insecticide costs were halved, says Mr Manop.
The new seeds cost 900 baht per 15 kilogrammes _ compared with 550 baht for those previously used by Kanchanaburi farmers _ but he still took a chance.
