The Stock Exchange of Thailand main index fell 0.13% or 1.93 points, to 1,496.43 at midday on Friday.

Total trading value was 30.11 billion baht, with 5.4 billion shares changed hands.

SET50 index dropped 0.24%, or 2.25 points, to 939.02 in trade worth 9.82 billion baht.

MAI rose 0.21% or 1.23 points to 579.31 in transactions worth 810.12 million baht.

Shares of Banpu Power Plc, which invests in domestic and overseas power generating businesses, began trade in the Resources industry, Energy & Utilities sector on Friday, under the BPP ticker symbol.

With market capitalisation at its initial public offering of 63.96 billion baht, BPP invests in power businesses, both coal power plants and renewable fuel plants, in many countries.

BPP has a total power-generating capacity of 1,913 megawatts in its portfolio -- 1,711.2 megawatts from coal power plants, 813 tonne per hour of steam and 56.6MW from solar power plants.

BPP's three major shareholders after IPO are Banpu (78.71%), Credit Suisse (Singapore) Ltd (5.35%) and the Vongkusolkit Family (0.91%). The IPO price was set at 21 baht based on the price-per-earnings ratio of 13.72-16.01 times.
