The Stock Exchange of Thailand main index rose 0.24, or 3.70 points, to 1,570.28 on Thursday.
Total trading value was 42.8 billion baht, with 10.8 billion shares changed hands.
SET50 index gained 0.28%, or 2.79 points, to 990.74 in trade worth 20.9 billion baht.
MAI fell 0.10%, or 0.56 points, to 565.14 in transactions worth 1.8 billion baht.
Shares of Energy Earth Plc (EARTH) hit the floor on Thursday after it told the SET late on Wednesday it defaulted on bills of exchange worth 40 million baht.
Energy Earth, a coal producer and distributor, stated tight cash flow as the reason and said it was negotiating with banks to renew its credit facility and repay the bills soon.
Institutional investors bought a net 674.6 million baht, followed by brokers (293.59 and foreigners (216.1 million). Individual investors sold 1.2 billion baht.
Year-to-date, institutional investors were net buyers of 41.2 billion baht, followed by foreigners (13.2 billion). Individual investors sold 55.4 billion baht.
