State-owned enterprises have churned out 129 billion baht of revenue for the government in the first nine months of the fiscal year as they are well on course to surpass the projection.

Ekniti Nitithanprapas, the State Enterprise Policy Office (Sepo) director-general, said on Thursday that total revenue from all state-owned enterprises sent back to the government in this fiscal year to June accounted for 129 billion baht, a 26% increase from the target.

The Finance Ministry has projected state agencies to contribute 131 billion baht to the state coffer for this fiscal year and the whopping jump in the first nine months led the ministry to believe the target would be surpassed, the official added.

Sepo spokesman Chanvit Nakburee attributed the increase to the improved efficiency of state-owned agencies.

The Government Lottery Office led the contributors in the first nine months, with 22 billion baht, slightly ahead of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, which sent 21.7 billion baht to the state purse.

PTT came third with 14.6 billion baht, followed by Government Savings Bank (13.1 billion) and the Provincial Electricity Authority (11.4 billion).
