I have 10 baht in gold bullion that cost me 25,000 baht per baht-weight and 50 baht that cost 22,000 each. I recently bought 10 baht more for 19,000 baht per baht-weight when prices fell. How long will I have to wait until the price rebounds, or will it will never get back to what I paid? If so, should I sell it and what investment should I make to at least offset my loss from gold?
ANSWERED BY... Teera Phutrakul, CFP, chairman, TFPA There are two basic ground rules you need to understand about gold. First, gold is hard to value because it does not pay interest or dividends. Second, gold is precious only so long as enough people agree that it is. That said, gold has been around as a store of value since the days of Cleopatra, so I would not give up on the precious metal just yet.
