Even if the government manages to mobilise 800 billion baht to finance fiscal deficits and flood-prevention measures, the ratio of public debt to gross domestic product will not exceed 47%, staying below the 60% limit, says the Public Debt Management Office.
The 800 billion baht in state expenditures includes 400 billion baht in deficit budget and 350 billion baht for long-term water management. The remaining 50 billion baht will go towards the natural disaster insurance fund.
PDMO director-general Chakkrit Parapuntakul said the state could muster about 200 billion for the deficit budget and 150 billion for the water management system in fiscal 2012.
