Making the right diagnosis helps a doctor determine the proper treatment for a patient, and the same principle can apply in the business world as well, says Rathian Srimongkol, the chief executive of Krungthai Card Plc.
A physician by training before he went to work in the financial sector, Mr Rathian still applies the disciplines he learned during his medical training, which explains the "medical financier" nickname by which he's sometimes known.
The newly appointed CEO has vowed to restore KTC to its former position as the country's number one credit card company. With this ambitious goal in mind, he began with a diagnosis of the Krung Thai Bank affiliate's problems, followed by operations to improve the entire organisation.
