Anxiety in athens sets tone for gloomy week in Bangkok

Recap: The Stock Exchange of Thailand last week declined in line with global stock markets, which were pressured by worries about Greece and the euro. US economic figures also sent negative signals. The SET index fell below the significant resistance line of 1,150 points. It traded in the range of 1,148.81 and 1,201.23 points and closed last Friday at 1,154.44, a decrease of 3.07% from a week earlier.

Foreign investors were net buyers up to midweek but big sell-offs on Friday made foreigners net sellers of 1.4 billion baht on the week. Local institutional investors were net sellers of 3.93 billion and brokers 3.12 billion baht. Retail investors were the only net buyers. at 8.45 billion baht.

Big movers: Big-caps in energy, banking, construction materials and telecoms were pressured by global unease and foreign selling. KBANK closed at 151.50 baht, down 0.3%, PTT fell 2.4% to 328 baht, and SCB shed 1.7% to 142 baht. ADVANC closed the week up 1.7% at 183.50 baht.
