The Stock Exchange of Thailand wants to increase the size of the clearing and settlement fund in order to better meet the rise in daily trading volume.
A market source said the current fund size was relatively small at 2-3 billion baht compared to average daily turnover of around 30 billion, a figure that rises to 40 billion or more on some days.
Theoretically, he said, the clearing and settlement fund should be equivalent to trading value to cover all possible risks in the market. However, he said increasing the size as much as tenfold was not possible for now.
