The impact of the euro-zone debt crisis which shook global markets last year seems to ease slightly as a brokerage house has revised down the possibility of a euro-zone crash to 40% from 50% previously.
Earlier, Suvit Chantakraiwat, Kasikorn Securities's senior financial adviser, projected the chance of a euro-zone crash at about 50-50. But the situation has improved slightly on the upcoming elections in France and the United States. The changes in politics would bring about new policies and new solutions to economic problems.
"We expect the elections to shift the balance of power and lead to new solutions. The incumbent leaders have been struggling to resolve these problems for quite a while but there is no light at the end of tunnel. Some of the countries will also have to start repaying their debts this year," said Mr Suvit.
