The new Accord has two engine sizes _ 2.0 and 2.4 litres _ and is priced between 1.299 and 1.799 million baht.

The Accord has been in Thailand for 18 years, selling 138,229 units.

The 2.4-litre engine version is the first model powered by Honda's new Earth Dreams technology, said to improve both driving performance and fuel efficiency.

To support the government's promotion of ethanol, both engines are E85 compatible.

Honda plans to introduce new and minor changes to around 10 models per year, said Pitak Pruittisarikorn, the company's executive vice president.

Earlier last month, Honda launched the Civic Hybrid featuring smart technology and comprehensive safety features, the first hybrid produced in Thailand to come with a lithium-ion battery. It plans to sell 7,200 units of the hybrid this year.

Honda started selling the imported CR-Z Hybrid and the domestically made Jazz Hybrid last year, clearing 3,900 to 4,200 hybrid units.

It wants to sell 200,000 total units this year, up 16.8% from 171,208 sales units last year.

Honda sells the Brio, Brio Amaze, Jazz, Jazz Hybrid, City, City CNG, Civic, Civic Hybrid, Accord and CR-V models.
