The Commerce ministry on Wednesday lowered its figures for customs-cleared exports in July to a 6.38% contraction year-on-year, worse than the 4.4% drop estimated last week.
Exports in July were confirmed at US$17.045 billion, compared with $17.415 billion reported on Friday, it said in a statement.
There were no revisions to imports data, which remained record at $16.202 billion. As a result, the revised July trade surplus is now at $843 million, down from $1.213 billion stated earlier.
Annual exports in January-July were revised to a 2.3% fall from a 2.0% decline stated on Friday. The revised exports figure for the seven months was $122.183 billion, down from $122.553 billion, for a recorded seven-months trade surplus of $13.257 billion (down from $13.626 billion).
Thailand has a recorded trade surplus for 15 consecutive months.
The ministry said last week data was preliminary and needed to be verified by the customs department.
