Buffalo Wild Wings, a US restaurant chain, is negotiating to bring its business to Thailand during the next two years.

Manny Packing, the company's director for international real estate and construction, said the chain is interested in expanding its business in Asia, with Thailand as a focus destination.

Thailand is a good fit for Buffalo Wild Wings, which sells chicken wings, beer and other items, he said.

"Thailand is a great market because it's a chicken-consuming country, so it has a wide customer base resulting in continued growth for chicken products here," said Mr Packing.

The company aims to target local customers more than foreign tourists.

Currently, it has been negotiating with several food restaurant groups in Thailand and expects to set up shop over the next two years.

Buffalo Wild Wings already has five branches in the Philippines.

"We got an amazing response and have seen rapid growth in the Philippines," Mr Packing said during a recent Bangkok visit.

Quick service restaurants have enjoyed strong growth in Thailand in recent years with the entry of many brands from Western and Asian countries.

Apart from the Philippines, the company also plans to expand the chain into Vietnam.

Buffalo Wild Wings was founded in 1982. It has 1,200 restaurants in nine countries (1,100 of which are in the US).

The company has found success expanding into the Middle East and looks to grow its presence in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

It aims to open restaurants in Oman next year, and Kuwait is also on the radar.
