Thai economy seen growing as forecast this year - BoT chief

Thailand's economy is still expected to grow 3.2% this year, as forecast, the governor of the Bank of Thailand said on Monday, in spite of slower than expected growth the previous quarter.

The baht is more stable than other regional currencies, Veerathai Santiprabhob told reporters.

The Thai currency traded at 33.55/56 per US dollar on Monday, having appreciated by 1.25% so far this year.

The  country's export-dependent economy is still struggling against tepid global demand, sluggish consumption and high household debt.

The economy grew 2.8% last year.
