Index Creative Village Plc's bid has won the Energy Ministry contract to build Thailand's pavilion at Expo Astana 2017 in Kazakhstan.

"This is a great way to kick-start 2017 as we will represent Thailand at one of the world's top expos," said Kreingkrai Kanjanapokin, the company's co-founder and co-chief executive.

Expo Astana 2017, organised by the International Exhibitions Bureau under theme "Future Energy", will be held between June 10 and Sept 10.

It will see more than 110 pavilions from countries and international organisations across the globe. The pavilions will stand on a 250,000-square-metre area in the middle of the capital city, Astana. The host country expects more than 5 million visitors at the three-month expo.

"Thailand has been given an area of 934 sq m. This is another world-class event for Thailand after attending World Expo 2016 in Milan and World Expo 2010 in Shanghai," Mr Kreingkrai said.

The event is considered one of the world's major crowd-pullers, along with the Olympic Games, Fifa World Cup and World Expo.

Index Creative Village was given the task to manage the Thai pavilion, which covers planning strategy, setting up exhibitions, managing and overseeing construction as well as organising media.

The company joined hands with Design 103 International in designing and creating the pavilion.

Mr Kreingkrai added that the purpose of this international expo is to promote the policy and potential of Thailand's energy security and create a collaboration with other nations in the field of energy.

"This is also a great opportunity to study global energy trends, so Thailand can plan its energy policy for a sustainable future," he said.

At Thailand's pavilion, the first floor will be built under the "Bioenergy for All" concept, representing future energy sustainability and showing the country's potential in developing bioenergy in particular.

The content at the pavilion will be presented in the edutainment format and is divided into three main exhibition rooms, which will include a 3D theatre and storytelling by a robotic mascot.

Index Creative Village won the right create the Thai pavilion with a budget of 249 million baht. It has previously managed Thailand's pavilion at World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China and International Exposition 2012 in Yeosu, South Korea to significant acclaim.
