Miracle Group to expand Sleep Box

Mr Anakapol says Miracle is investing 40 million baht for the second phase of Sleep Box at Don Mueang airport.

Miracle Group will open the second and third phases of its 25-room Sleep Box Hotel at Don Mueang airport this year.

Anakapol Ingkakul, Miracle’s executive director, said the group is now investing 40 million baht in the second phase of Sleep Box Hotel at Don Mueang airport, which will add 40 new rooms.

The second phase, located near the first one in the airport’s landside area, is scheduled to open in the second quarter of this year.
Construction on the third phase will begin soon in the airside area and is due to open in the fourth quarter.

Mr Anakapol said the expansion of Sleep Box is to serve more passengers at Don Mueang airport after the first phase has performed well in terms of revenue and guest traffic during its first year of operations.

“The opening of a new terminal at Don Mueang and rising flights from low-cost airlines in recent years have attracted more daily passengers. This also benefits our business at Don Mueang such as food, lounges and also Sleep Box,” he said.

Mr Anakapol said the Sleep Box hotel concept is different than that for transit hotels, where passengers can stay overnight.

“Our Sleep Box is a place where passengers can pay by the hour for a short rest before taking their next flight,” he said.

At Don Mueang airport, 70% of Sleep Box customers are local passengers, while the remaining 30% are international travellers, mostly Chinese.

Miracle Group will focus more on online marketing to boost Sleep Box’s brand awareness. It will appoint a digital advertising agency under McCann Worldgroup to handle its online marketing campaign.

Mr Anakapol said going online will benefit the hotel as it will reach more domestic and international passengers while convincing old customers to return.

The group will also invest 2 billion baht to develop a big hotel-cum-convention project next to its Miracle Grand Convention hotel on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. It will have a huge convention hall to serve 3,000 people, a four-star hotel with 250 rooms, and a parking lot on nine rai leased from property developer G Land.

The 4-star hotel and parking lot are set to be finished this year, while the convention hall is expected to be finished by the second quarter of 2019.

The group operates six lounges and a transit hotel — Louis’ Tavern Transit hotel at Suvarnabhumi airport — as well as Magic Food Point, a food court at Bangkok’s gateway airport. Miracle Group rebranded Louis’ Tavern CIP Lounge to Miracle Lounge earlier this year.

The group also owns the Miracle Suvarnabhumi Airport hotel, the Miracle Grand Convention hotel and the Louis’ Tavern hotel on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.

At Don Mueang airport, it has three lounges. The group is also managing three food courts, along with Sleep Box.
