Lee: Data security remains roadblock

On their course to digital transformation, business groups are being driven by millennial workers and cost efficiency pressures, says a leading Japan-based systems integrator.

"Technological readiness to empower worker mobility and reduce traffic congestion have been pushing double-digit investment growth in digital workplaces over the past three years. But there are still concerns regarding data security making businesses hesitate to adopt workplace mobility," said Alfee Lee Man Choong, head of the digital solutions group at Fujitsu Thailand Co.

Globally, at least 15% of workers will be millennials by 2020, which is why businesses needs to prepare their working environments to attract young, talented employees, he said.

Locally, Fujitsu foresees strong demand for smart workplace solutions in enterprise, property and refineries.

The company foresees the potential of Interest of Things technology in manufacturing helping factories become smarter, in particular for operational cost reductions and effective machine maintenance.

Machine learning technology will help humans better make decisions, including preventative maintenance from information gleaned by sensors in equipment and greater insights into employee behaviour.
