BNH offers first-aid class

BNH Hospital is providing first-aid training courses to hotel staff, tour guides and workers in the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (Mice) sector, as one of the country's leading private hospitals strives to expand its customer base.

Mr Nopparat says the courses are geared to hotels, tour guides and Mice.

Deputy director Nopparat Panthongwiriyakul said the hospital organised an initial course called SOS@Hotel. The programme has provided first-aid training to over 200 hotel workers in more than 100 hotels nationwide.

The hotel sector was targeted first by BNH Hospital. Trained staff are now expected to help hotel guests when they require urgent care.

"We believe many tourists, business travellers and Thais need the best care from the people around them, even before reaching a doctor at a hospital," Mr Nopparat said.

He said BNH Hospital will launch the second phase of the programme soon, focusing on tour guides working on site.

Thailand welcomed 34 million international tourists last year. The number is expected to reach 35 million in 2017.

Working with tour guides will help the hospital extend its network and alliances, as well as raise the hospital's visibility on the global stage.

Mr Nopparat said the first tour guide class will include 30-40 professionals and will be introduced in August.

In the future, BNH Hospital will focus on business travellers. Because individuals in this sector often travel for Mice purposes, receiving fast care in the event of an emergency is vital.

"Our hospital has been serving local and international markets for 119 years," Mr Nopparat said. "This initiative is expected to raise our reputation and awareness."

Some 46% of BNH Hospital's patients are foreigners.
