Direct sales company Amway has invested 40 million baht to open a new distribution centre at TPark Bangplee 1 warehouse in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan.

Developed by Ticon Logistics Park Co, the new facility spans over 10,000 square metres and is fully equipped with digital technology that Amway believes will take its business capabilities and operations to a global level.

Kittawat Ritteerawee, managing director of Amway Thailand Ltd, said that with more space, warehouse capacity has been increased by 50%, which will facilitate long-term growth and enable them to handle more inbound and outbound goods.

By using the innovative Digital Picking System, products can be stored and then distributed to Amway Business Owners and members, ensuring timely availability for home delivery and all 83 Amway Shops nationwide, Mr Kittawat said.

Amway has been operating in Thailand for three decades with a sales force of 330,000 people, and over 720,000 members who buy the 500 or so products Amway sells.

The company posted sales growth of 10% in the first quarter this year, the first pickup after five years of negative or flat growth caused by the weak economy.

This improved first quarter performance inspired the firm to set an aggressive sales growth target of 8% this year.

"Amway has chosen TPark Bangplee 1 for our new one-stop distribution centre because the site is well-positioned to offer a world-class warehousing facility," Mr Kittawat said. "Most importantly, it is scalable and can keep up with our future warehousing expansion."

TPark owns a total of more than 600 rai of land, which is already developed or in the process of development, accounting for a total warehousing space of over 500,000 sq m.

Amway is the first direct sales firm to rent space from the logistics park.
