A local firm is to partner with a Thai manufacturer to bring the latest self-service vending machines to Cambodia as part of a franchise deal.

Khmer Klean will work with Thai firm Pudcha to introduce the convenience machines across Phnom Penh initially and later throughout the country, the Khmer Times reported on Monday.

Rozet El, board director at Khmer Klean, said the vending machines will serve the growing middle class in the country, as the economy continues to develop.

The company plans to supply four products initially: drinking water vending machines, self-service washing and drying machines, plus mini car-wash vending machines.

“Under the partnership, we will bring the latest integrated and quick access Touch & Go machines to sell on the market and as a franchise here,” he said.

“We want to provide convenience and help cultivate a modern lifestyle for people.”

Speaking at the launch of the deal on Friday, Thesis Pudchakul, managing director of Pudcha, said his company has observed the rising income and demand for high-tech convenience facilities in the region.

“Our decision to enter Cambodia was in response to the increase in the living standard here and the developing economy of Cambodia, which gives us big potential to grow,” said Mr Thesis.

“We hope that our vending machines will contribute to the country’s development.”

Mr Rozet said customers will be able to use either local currency or US dollars for the self-service machines.

“We envision bright future and great potential in the market. We are projecting growth within the first semester of our rollout throughout Phnom Penh. Later we will focus on expanding throughout Cambodia,” he said.
