Asean envoys congratulate PM

The ambassadors of member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation and chiefs of international organisations on Friday paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra at Government House, government spokeswoman Thitima Chaisaeng said.

The foreign envoys offered congratulations to Ms Yingluck on her serving as the leader of the Pheu Thai-led coalition government, Mrs Thitima added.

The Indonesian ambassador to Thailand said Indonesia was ready to support and cooperate with Thailand in all matters. The envoy was confident that Thailand has strong potential for growth.

I think Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is HOT.

    D3,
I do not recall the US taking a similar step in 2008 and all through the period between then and the new government having been elected. Of course governments work with governments regardless of what they think of who is running it in most cases. That doesn't mean they do not express some sort of a stance towards that government.

She SAYS her government's priorities are reconciliation and economic development.

But their first actions have been...
    1) Secure Japanese visa for Thaksin SHINAWATRA.
    2) Release the SHINAWATRA kids from tax liabilities
    3) Overturn a guilty verdict for the former SHINAWATRA.
    4) Install a SHINAWATRA relative as police chief
    5) Start procedures for amnesty for Thaksin SHINAWATRA.

Does anyone else see a pattern here?

Reconciliation? Does she think that the setting up of "Redshirt villages" will promote reconciliation?

An obvious expression of support? What did you expect - the Asean countries would tell her to take a flying leap? They work with a government no matter what they may think of the politicians running it.

Appears to be an obvious expression of support by the international community.

Of course the Asean summit in Indonesia in November will be a success, they got no redshirts attacking them.
