Thaksin's son: Cheap, good food all around us

Cheap but good food can be found in front of the Democrat Party's head office, Panthongtae "Oak" Shinawatra said on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

Mr Panthongtae, son of fugitive former prime minister Thaksin, said an acquaintance had recommended that he visit a restaurant near the Democrat headquarters on Setthasiri road, Bangkok.

"Today I had the chance to eat in a restaurant recommended by someone else, before I go to Chiang Mai to take part in a by-election campaign.

What good propaganda for Oak to come out and say there is cheap food to be found, when the people are complaining of rising prices. But I do think local food stalls are not expensive based on a middle income worker. I think khao gaeng prices has been blown out of proportion by the PTP government in order to save face and control the cost of goods. They should focus on how to control raw material not prices sold by local food stalls.

englishbob 11 - "The government's approval rate is terrible"
Did you by any chance compare the governments current rating to the ratings of previous governments in previous years? Or see the current rating given to the current opposition? AV is barely above Chuwit in the ratings . .

Obviously, jib, you can never find anything redeeming to say about the PTP, yet you blindly support them?

Dear Bangkok Post, next time you need to fill some empty space, just put a funny cartoon there and leave Oak's facebook page be his own business.

The fact that he is Thaksin only son doesnt change the fact that people are always on look out for nice food. If Thaksin and Hong Kong former Chief Executive Donald Tsang fly to Singapore for their favourite pork rib soup in a old shop hidden away in some old shop houses, I am sure everyone of us are always asking our friends and colleagues where is the best food. Incidently the singaporean pork rib soup cost only 108 baht per bowl not expensive by singapore standard, a meal at KFC cost more than that.
He belong to the new generations like the rest of asian youngster, very active on the social media and like people here you can find aps on iphone or android phones where to find the best and cheap food. He is not complaining about high food prices he basically went in search of cheap and delicious food, so rather than lie down and complaint get your ass off the ground and start to look for cheap food near your area.

I think it is safe to say that neither the son of TS, nor all the clever contributors to this thread really worry whether the price of a rice dish is 30, 40 or 50 bath. One could of course suspect that the commentators are significantly more concerned for the poor, but I doubt it. There is nothing in the track record of the current opposition and other powerful elements that indicates a genuine urge to better the conditions for the people in Thailand.

Is the food in, and around the J.J.Mall he owns cheap? It would also be interesting to know how much he is renting space to vendors selling cheap food products under the government's cheap food program. One of the distribution points is the J.J.Mall, and he does own it.
