Thaksin: Referendum before charter rewrite

The government should first hold a referendum to gauge people's opinions on amendments to the constitution, before going ahead with the changes, former premier Thaksin Shinawatra said on Tuesday in a speech to the Asia Society in Hong Kong.

"The government is ready to accept the result of the referendum, and whether there will be enough votes is not a worrying issue," Thaksin said.

Nicely compiled pic for the main story on the webpage. Says it all.

Well if this is not about getting Thaksin home then there are some people who are very confused or they simply enjoy using Thaksin as a means of keeping their base heated with dillusions. Parlimentary voting it through or by popular vote it seems this is going to pass either way.

Disc.1, that's the thing about politics, in one persons view Thaksin could be seen as helping, in anothers opinion he could be a hindrance to progress. A case of "damned if you do, damned if you don't". It's all well and good having an opinion, but sometimes that opinion is best kept to yourself if it is a stumbling block to a peaceful life. Why not wait to see what the referendum says and then vote on it. It will be a simple question. Would you like to see changes made to the Constitution, yes or no. Of course, you would vote no, and thats your right. Voting no means you are against freedom and democracy though. And do you see the irony?

When will the lying stop, parliament has nothing to do with the decisions in Thailand...they are made from afar.

Depends on how the Referendum is worded. Thaksin is a slippery eel, and I wouldn't put anything past him.
