Thai stocks slipped on Friday as global investors fretted that talks to prevent the United States from going over a "fiscal cliff" are going nowhere.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand Index fell 4.02 points to close at 1,373.38, but was up 1.1% from the previous Friday's close of 1,358.50. Turnover was 35.02 billion baht, with 11.54 billion shares traded.
Foreign investors were net buyers on Friday of 200.28 million baht worth of Thai shares. Local brokers were net buyers of 499.6 million and local institutions bought 592.5 million. Local retail investors were net sellers of 1.29 billion baht.
