    lol...

I think the japanese would have visited regardless of who was PM due to their economic problems and a need to counter China's increasing role regionally.

The good weather sure helps too.

D2. These are the facts: The world leaders in 2009 were threatened and had to leave the ASEAN Pattaya summit through the back doors. And in 2010 the red-shirts held Bangkok and Thailand hostage for weeks and months.

I think Japan prefers Thailand as a manufacturing base because their relations with China are so strained .I dont Yingluck or PT had much to do with it .If they avoided Thailand under AV it was only because the threat of PT supporters .

Korea are public testing 7G..China are now building maglev ultra hi speed trains

Phuket is STILL waiting for its light railway 20 years after the project was given the go ahead

PM Abe first foreign visit to Thailand after his premiership is testimony to the strategic importance of Thailand to Japan. State leaders chose their visits carefully and do so because of economic and political reasons. Abe has a rough mandate to steer Japan away from the decades of poor economics and deflation. Thailand sits in a very pivotal position in this region. These are compelling economic reasons and also geo political reason of balancing China influence. Japan also recognizes Yingluck has brought economic and political stability to Thailand.

Dis#2 is a spin doctor, waste of time responding.
Japanese companies operate within their own circle ie other Japanese companies irrespective of where they are. Thailand is cheap labor. If you don't speak Japanese and are middle management you don't get job or you loose your job. Japanese economics is about feeding Japanese companies and everyone else is just "a means to and end".

Ties are almost as strong now as they were in 1942.

musashi D2: I think the PT was never really the problem. Only Thaksin is one. Didn't know Abhisit was in charge for the past 10 years !?!

    Disc 2

YS is easy on the eyes and good for a photo op. Thus, she's good for the PR spin of male leaders in their own countries.

But, there's no substance at all in any of it. Wake up!

D2 You forgot to mention that Japan also avoided the back of Thaksins regime and also that of Samak and Somchai also or was that "an honest mistake" too?
