About 300 members of the Labour Union of Port Authority staged a rally Tuesday to demand the resignation of the top executive of the state-owned enterprise because he was "not righteousness for the job".

Pprotesters wearing black gathered in front of the Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) headquarters on Tarua Road in Bangkok’s Klongtoey district.

The group was peaceful, but accused PAT director-general Wiroj Jongcharnsittho of nepotism, failure to investigate alleged procurement corruption, creating rifts among employees, and intervening in the union’s affairs.

"Even local government officials wear uniforms here." Because they are civil servants and are paid by the government. But no one retires a sub lt or second lt. That is entry level rank.

Even local goverment officials wear uniforms here. Seems anyone who THINKS they are somebody has to wear a uniform to command 'respect'. Respect has to be earned, it's NOT a 'right'.

Retired British officers of the rank of major equivalent and above customarily may use their rank in retirement. Although most choose not do do so. Retired US military below the rank of Lt.Col normally do not carry their former title. In Thailand rank still seems to be important. Port Authority position like so many government positions is acquired through nepotism so where is the problem?
