BoT chief not troubled by strong baht

The Bank of Thailand has no grave concerns about the quick appreciation of the baht over the past two days, central bank governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul said on Wednesday.

The currency rose on investors' perceptions of its value against major currencies, in a comparison with other regional currencies, he said.

"The baht appreciated too quickly over these two days, but the baht's strengthening is not the result of unusual foreign capital inflow. It reflects its value,"  he said

Somehow I always felt better trying to deal with fabricated foreign investments
than reading that the current exchange rate for the baht "reflects its value."
Hope the meaning here isn't lost on anyone because this is the worst scenario a
Third World country like Thailand could experience. The BoT has clearly come up
with a policy that gives the baht any value they want - doesn't have to be based
on any economic guidelines - nope - the baht is any figure they announce - scary!
