Kittiratt puts savings fund on ice, but Korn objects

The Finance Ministry is set to freeze a plan that would set up a National Savings Fund as proposed by the previous government, saying the fund would overlap with the existing Social Security Fund Act.

Kittiratt: Non-formal sector covered now

Section 40 of the Act already covers providing pensions to workers in the non-formal sector, so a law establishing a National Savings Fund is not needed, said Kittiratt Na-Ranong, deputy prime minister and finance minister, during a seminar on pensions.
