Thai stocks gained 0.7% on Friday despite a cautious trend on world markets ahead of the long Songkran holiday.
The Stock Exchange of Thailand Index rose 10.51 points to close at 1,527.32, an increase of 2.6% from the previous Friday's close of 1,489.53. Turnover was modest at 41.49 billion baht, with 7.47 billion shares traded.
Sentiment was buoyed yesterday by a new forecast from the Bank of Thailand, which raised its 2013 economic growth forecast to 5.1% from a January prediction of 4.9%.
