The rapid growth of tourism in Myanmar is about to bring major changes to the area around famed Inle Lake, among them an influx of international hotels, but Yin Myo Su is not worried.

The managing director and founder of Inle Princess Resort has been welcoming guests for 16 years and she believes they will keep coming even after the global brands stake out their turf. The reason: her resort can offer something the big names don’t have. “We have to be authentic, staying true to our roots and culture,” she says. “I don’t fear the upcoming investment from foreigners.”
