The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) yesterday confirmed with the cabinet secretariat that CAT Telecom must immediately return the frequencies of its two concessionaires after their contracts expire in September.
The state telecom enterprise must revert the 1800-megahertz frequency to the NBTC for reallocation for public use, said secretary-general Takorn Tantasit.
On Sept 15, concessions for True Move, a unit of True Corporation, and Digital Phone, a unit of Advanced Info Service, are set to expire under agreements with CAT. Each operator holds 12.5 MHz of bandwidth on the 1800-MHz frequency.
