Ministry pushes coal option for power

- +

Coal is the best solution and indeed the only choice for Thailand in improving energy security, Energy Minister Pongsak Raktapongpaisal told an energy security forum yesterday.

Thailand's heavy reliance on natural gas has become a critical issue. It has led to frequent power disruptions lately, and outages are increasingly harder to address.

"We've been relying on a single fuel source for power generation far too long, and our gas resources are running low. The longer we depend on gas, the greater the risk of power outages," said Mr Pongsak.
