Firm keen on data centres

T.C.C. Technology (TCCT), a data-centre operator, is preparing to launch a data-centre sharing network in collaboration with major local industry players.

Managing director Kosit Suksingha said the campaign is aimed at promoting Thailand as an Asean data-centre hub.

TCCT is in talks with a group of local data-centre operators to determine their marketing and technical needs.

Mr Kosit said his company will focus on providing wholesale data-centre services and building infrastructure. Partners, especially internet service providers, will integrate IT systems and find new corporate customers.

With three data centres in Thailand, TCCT will open one in Cambodia this year.

It has a 20% share of the local data-centre market in terms of capacity.

TCCT is also a founding member of Asia Data Centre Alliance, which has a data-centre sharing network in five Asean countries.

Mr Kosit said the company will clinch deals with potential members this month.

The research company Broadgroup predicts Thailand's data-centre space will grow at a compound rate of 47% from 2012-15 compared with 28% in Malaysia and 32% in Singapore.

Indonesia is expected to enjoy the fastest growth of 89% during the period.

Singapore and Malaysia have most data-centre space, at 233,404 square metres and 147,346 sq m, respectively.

Indonesia has data-centre space of 29,230 sq m and Thailand 17,847 sq m.
