The cabinet yesterday approved the appointment of Rangsan Sriworasart as finance permanent secretary, announced government spokesman Teerat Ratanasevi.
Rangsan: Caretaker takes permanent job
The appointment will take effect when it is announced in the Royal Gazette soon.
Mr Rangsan is now a deputy finance permanent secretary and caretaker permanent secretary.
He will replace Areepong Bhoocha-oom who was recently named secretary-general of the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission.
Mr Areepong took the office as permanent secretary of finance on Oct 1, 2010, appointed by the government of former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva of the Democrat Party.
Mr Rangsan, 58, has advanced in his career path to the top job at the Finance Ministry in a relatively short time.
He took office as deputy permanent secretary in October 2012 after he was director-general of the Comptroller General's Department.
