SSI hits a dead spot in Q3

Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc posted a a consolidated third-quarter net loss of 2.9 billion baht, down by 40% year-on-year despite a revenue rise, due mainly to cyclically slow global steel demand and a week-long shutdown to reboot using new technology. 

Consolidated revenue rose by 34% in the quarter to 16.8 billion baht from 928,000 tonnes of products, while nine-month sales hit 49.3 billion, up by 15% year-on-year.

It recorded a net loss for nine months of 4.14 billion baht, an improvement from a loss of 12.7 billion a year earlier.
