Car exports down again in November

Car exports for November totalled 96,006 units, down 4.21% on last November and a decline of 0.87% on October, Surapong Paisitpatanapong, spokesman for the Automotive Industry Club, said on Thursday.

Export value amounted to 64.91 billion baht, an increase of 2.56% on November 2012, he said.

Exports over the first 11 months (Jan-Nov) of 2013 totalled 1,040,191 units, up 10.61% year on year, while the value of exports in the period was up 4.97% to 471.72 billion baht.

Vehicle output in November dropped 28.75%, the lowest level in seven months, in comparison to the same month in 2012, and down 1.24% on October, to 182,818 units.

Output over the first 11 months of the year totalled 2,298,193 units, an increase of 2.95% on the same period last year.

Domestic car sales over the month amounted to 93,123 units, down 37.2% on last November, but up 4.65% on October, as almost all cars ordered under the government’s first car scheme had been delivered to clients and the car market has returned to normal.

Mr Surapong projected car output for December at 183,130 units, up 0.17% on the 182,818 units actual output in November, but a decline of 17.27% on the 221,353 units actual output in December 2012.
