The cabinet on Wedneasday extended the term of the diesel excise tax reduction to 0.005 baht per litre for another month, until Jan 31.
The tax reduction was set to end on Dec 31.
The tax waiver is aimed at keeping the cost of living down. It keeps the price of diesel below 30 baht a litre in Bangkok and nearby provinces, but not in rural areas where motorists pay more.
