Waste fire fans flames of BWG growth

Better World Green Plc (BWG), a SET-listed waste management company, says the number of companies interested in using its services doubled in the past week following the recent fire that ravaged a waste dump site in Samut Prakan.

Director and company secretary Tasanee Thongdee said the incident prompted more factories to consider using proper waste management services.

BWG and the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand have conducted road shows to promote industrial waste management at the Bangpoo Industrial Estate and factories in the area.

"The dump fire made factories realise the importance of selecting a reputable industrial waste management company to reduce the risk of illegal dumping as the government begins to crack down on the issue," she said.

Factories caught illegally disposing of industrial waste are liable for a maximum two years prison term and a 2,000-baht fine.

"Over 100 of the 320 factories at Bangpoo Industrial Estate have signed up for service, and we expect more," she said.

BWG plans more road shows at other industrial estates and expects similar interest as the service helps preserve the environment, she added.

Shares of BWG closed yesterday on the SET at 3.44 baht, up two satang, in trade worth 44.7 million baht.
