AES targets 40% growth

The political uncertainty has only slightly affected Bangkok-based Asian Exhibition Services (AES), whose ongoing projects will enable it to see revenue growth of 40% this year.

Managing director David Aitken said AES relies on projects awarded by the skytrain and subway operators, which helps to maintain revenue stability.

AES is an international company that manages specialised industrial trade events in Asia.

Headquartered in Bangkok, it has offices in Singapore, China, India, the Middle East and South America.

Meanwhile, the upcoming Asean Economic Community (AEC) will lead to increasing demand for infrastructure.

The AEC means every business sector should expect it will lead to commercial and residential construction booms in the coming years, Mr Aitken said.

Jaruwan Suwannasat, director of exhibitions and events at the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau, said this year the TCEB has organised business-matching events to increase the capability of sectors that have high potential to grow, particularly in Asia.

AES recently cooperated with Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media in arranging Secutech Asean.

Scheduled to take place from Nov 26-28 at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre, Secutech Asean will feature 150 exhibitors to showcase security technology innovation for government, commercial and private uses.

The event targets 6,000 visitors from a range of different backgrounds, with industrial, government and building professionals the top three target groups.

IMS Research, an independent supplier of market research and consultancy to the global electronics industry, said demand for fire and safety equipment is rising as safety regulations become stricter in Thailand.

Building and factory owners are now being required to make greater efforts in installing fire prevention devices.

The Thai market accounts for 29% of the overall video surveillance market in Southeast Asia and is expected to have double-digit growth over the next few years.

Home security and automation items in houses are expected to grow by 6.4%, particularly as demand for second homes increases in major tourist destinations including Phuket.

"The upcoming AEC means that every business sector must level up their quality standard in the business to attract customers. Security and safety products are among those helping to maintain the quality," said Mr Aitken.
