Junta to name NEPC members this week

The junta vows to accelerate energy price restructuring as one of its key economic platforms, saying its first move is to appoint new members to the National Energy Policy Committee (NEPC) this week. 

There has been much controversy surrounding energy prices, with activists arguing they have been kept high by the national energy conglomerate PTT Plc, while the government disputes this charge.

Activists yesterday asked the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), through the energy reform process, to clear hindrances that distort the fuel price structure, claiming these benefited business operators while households had to bear higher costs.
