Bangkok Dec-Con signs Cambodia decoration deal

Bangkok Dec-Con Plc (BKD), an MAI-listed interior decorator and made-to-order finished furniture company, has expanded internationally and expects foreign revenue will account for 10% of the total next year.

The company yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding with Chip Mong Land, one of the largest property developers in Cambodia, to decorate The Parkland Sansuk, a residential project located on 200,000 square metres in Phnom Penh.

It marked the company's first decoration project outside Thailand.

The Parkland Sansuk has investment worth 12 billion baht, while the decoration deal is worth more than 1 billion baht.

The companies also have a verbal agreement to cooperate for Chip Mong Land's future projects.

Nuchanart Ratanasuwanachart, Bangkok Dec-Con's managing director, said revenue from Cambodia would be realised gradually in the next two years, with half booked next year and half in 2016.

Revenue generated from foreign business will contribute 10% of the total next year and be a main driver for the company achieving 10% revenue growth to 13 billion baht, she said.

Ms Nuchanart said the company had also joined in bidding for other decoration projects abroad including a hotel owned by a South Korean investor in Myanmar, a project in Saudi Arabia with a decoration deal worth 1 billion baht and a project in Qatar with a deal worth 100 million baht.

Bangkok Dec-Con has also submitted a bid to decorate Thailand's new parliament building constructed by Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction Plc. The value will be about 1 billion baht.

The company expects revenue of 11 billion baht this year, an 86% increase from 601 million in 2013.

Net profit is expected to rise by 15% from 14.8 million baht last year.

Henry Leang, a senior executive vice-president of Chip Mong Land, said the group planned to build hotels in Phnom Penh and other tourist cities alongside residential projects.

BKD shares closed yesterday on the MAI at 5.85 baht, down 10 satang, in trade worth 84.1 million baht.
