Chinese travellers have chosen four Thai locations among their top 10 favourite searches for the upcoming National Day "Golden Week" holiday.
Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui ranked third, sixth, eighth and tenth, respectively, in searches for the seven-day holiday that starts next Wednesday, according to data from booking website Hotels.com.
Rounding out the list were top-ranked Taipei, Seoul (second), Hong Kong (fourth), Singapore (fifth), Tokyo (seventh) and Paris (ninth).
The report said more than 80% of hotels in Thailand reported an increase in the number of Chinese guests last year.
A healthy majority (72%) of Chinese travellers chose December, January or February for visiting Thailand.
Moreover, the survey found 41% of Thai hotels had spent at least US$10,000 to develop programmes and services catering specifically to Chinese guests.
