TAA debuts Sakon Nakhon service

Thai AirAsia (TAA) on Wednesday inaugurated its latest service, Don Mueang (Bangkok)-Sakon Nakhon, with a claimed average load factor of 85% through the year-end.

TAA director for commercial Santisuk Klongchaiya said the strong early bookings are indicative of the kingdom's tourism sector is returning to vibrancy.

The double daily services offered by the low-cost carrier have proven popular, especially among domestic Thai travellers who have made up 95% of TAA's tickets sold so far, he said.

However, TAA expects to be able to attract more foreign tourists to the route, especially during its many year-end festivities such as the Wax Castle Festival, the end of Buddhist Lent from Oct 8-9 and the Christmas time Star Parade.

The airline will work closely with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the province's local Chamber of Commerce and business enterprises and the media to promote travel and investment by playing up Sakon Nakhon's strengths and attractions.

Sakon Nakhon became the 15th domestic destination served by TAA.

TAA's other daily services to the Northeast are Don Mueang-Udon Thani (two flights), Udon Thani-Phuket (1), Don Mueang-Ubon Ratchathani (2), Don Mueang-Nakhon Phanom (1) and Don Mueang-Khon Kaen (4).
